As a great man of vision, God placed it in the heart of Archbishop Roy E. Brown to establish churches around the world.  It was with this vision that Pilgrim Church of Atlanta (PCHA) opened its doors on October 10, 1993 and Bishop Kent Branch (then Pastor) was installed.

PCHA began with only three members, The Branch family‚ Kent, Diana and their daughter. The small group of dedicated worshippers were committed to God’s plan to shake up Atlanta and introduce people to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.  Believing God, the parishioners spread the Gospel and God’s powerful presence became evident to all of those who opened their hearts.  Lives were transformed at Pilgrim Church of Atlanta, all by the mighty move of God.  It was with these undeniable experiences that PCHA became known as “The Church with a Mighty Move of God.”

Three years later, Atlanta’s renowned Gospel Choice Awards saluted the great works being done at this house of God when it honored Bishop Branch with the Chosen Award, one of the region’s highest pastoral honors which highlights those who have made a mark in their church community.

The miraculous growth in membership compelled PCHA to seek facilities that would better serve Bishop Branch’s God-Given vision.  In 1998, God took Pilgrim From Vision to Victory when the Pilgrim Cathedral Campus was acquired.  The campus consists of over seven acres in the Decatur, Georgia community, including the Sanctuary and Administrative Office Building, the Archbishop Roy E. Brown Life Center & Pilgrim Christian Academy, Simeon & Anna Senior Citizen House, The Timothy House and the Pilgrim Empowerment Plaza.

The spiritual needs of the community are an essential part of our ministry; however, we also find it paramount to meet the needs of the family.  In an initiative to provide resources that appeal to all members of the family, Pilgrim ministries is building a multi-faceted array of programs that will culminate in the establishment of the Family Enrichment Institute. Several of the life skill ministries include, but are not limited to the Men Mentoring Men Ministry, Women Mentoring Women, The Sons of Thunder, Affirmation Ministry, Music and Arts Ministry. In addition, vocal training, music lessons, liturgical dance and sewing classes are offered.

Currently, family members have been able to fellowship through our athletic component of the program which features seasonal basketball and football teams, and cheerleading.  Forums have also been held to provide information on various topics, such as the steps to home ownership, financial planning, parenting techniques and life-skills for singles.  Our long-term vision includes Mom’s Morning Out Childcare Services, a 24 hour Childcare Service and timesharing for church members.

A strong support system stems from both, the church and the community, which led to the creation of two very special community empowerment programs.  Many of our members and supporters have been blessed with entrepreneurial gifts and have linked with the Pilgrim Entrepreneur Partners (PEP) to lead to prosperous businesses.  The participants in PEP have benefited from venture counseling, assistance with business plans that have developed ideas into companies and optional work space offered to vendors.

To effectively minister to as many people as possible, Pilgrim Cathedral of Atlanta (PCA) launched its television broadcast ministry. The broadcast ministry reaches more than one million people weekly.
